About Cavapoos

A cavapoo is a hybrid breed - a cross between Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a miniature or toy Poodle. Because it is a crossbreed, many characteristics vary depending on the dog. Due to their mixed gene pool, crossbreeds tend to be less susceptible to disease and genetic disorders. Since both parent breeds are playful and outgoing, the Cavapoo temperament is generally energetic and friendly with adults and children alike. Weighing 10 to 25 pounds on average, they are an especially manageable size for most homes. Health is the top priority at Therapuppy™ Ranch. We take health most seriously and as a top priority over looks. We do extensive genetic testing to ensure that we breed the healthiest puppies we can.

Why adopt from a breeder instead of a shelter?

We are strong supporters of rescue animal organizations. In fact, half of our dogs at the Ranch are rescues. Rescuing means you are adopting a dog in need and saving a life. While rescue dogs may have been through a lot in their previous lives, many rescued dogs come through without any emotional or physical problems. They are only looking for a loving home where they can feel safe and protected. And in return, they’ll give you a lifetime of love and friendship.

However….

Rescue dogs often have behavioral or health-related challenges you may or may not be aware of before adopting them. Some dogs may not be great with kids or other animals. Some may not do well if left alone for long periods of time. And some may have medical conditions that require regular attention. When searching for a companion, therapy, or service dog, it is important that the dog you bring home is given the proper start in life so that its behavior and health are more predictable and stable. Human health benefits are more likely to be associated with animal companionship when the animal's care does not burden the person with unexpected stress.
